S06.01: How to start and run nationwide lung cancer screening

Összefoglaló szövege

It takes a lot of effort to set up a nationwide lung cancer screening programme (LCS) from scratch in the view of planning, overcoming obstacles and implementing the whole idea.
From the very beginning LCS must be well structured with minute instructions on participant selection, minimal technical requirements, established referral pathway, data and reports flow, image acquisition and quality, reporting protocol and further management of findings, reimbursement. LCS has to include smoking cessation program. All professionals and participants should be adequately educated and informed. Finally, LCS with all its features has to be available across the country to all eligible persons regardless of geography.
The quality of the scanners, analysis and reports has to be the same across the country and should be regularly checked. To constantly control quality and do necessary improvements, data analysis has to be available and application adjustments possible. The implementation team should be ready to face real time problems like COVID crisis and many more to come.
LCS should be accessible and open for research.
